Try this If you have a volt meter or 12 volt tester, try this. Remove the two wires that go to S and I and don’t let them touch anything. Then go to your key switch, and turn it to on. Check for voltage at both wires to battery ground. If you have voltage at one of them, then that one has power when the key is on, or the motor is running. Turn the key to start, and read the voltage on both wires again may take 2 people to do this.
The other wire should have voltage now. That is the one that controls the starter solenoid. I am not sure, but I would guess that the ‘S’ stands for starter and the ‘I’ stands for Ignition. The voltage test you just did will tell you which wire goes to ‘S’ Key in start position , and ‘I’ voltage present when key is turned on and starting. The part about the Jeep still running is puzzling. For some reason, the ignition module is still getting power when the key is off, and keeps it running.
Sounds like you need to try see where all the wires go to, and compare them with the schematic that was posted by jadams

I finally got mine working so I just wanted to put this out there for anybody else who wants to do the same thing.
You need a 12v 7amp sla battery, 12 gauge wire, A 2 wire key switch for 49cc atvs, motorcycles, etc, and a universal starter solenoid. It was nowhere near as expensive as some people were saying it would be and it was pretty simple to set up. Anyway hope this helps somebody looking to set up the electric start on their 49cc instead of having to use the pull start.
All of the info I found was for people who had scooters and bikes that already had some sort of ignition already factory installed. HOw can I start a thread? Jun 1, I just bought one of the Fleetwoods. They look like a clone of the Honda XRM’s they sell overseas. It is in transit now and I should get it this week. I will try to post my experience here.
